I loved the underline suspense in this story and how into the love story between Noah and Riley. I'm such a fan of love conquering all, so I was happy that Noah and Riley were able to work through their feelings of guilt and let love lead the way!
Maureen delivers as always. Great characters, storyline and sensual hot writing. It was hard to stop reading and Noah was a heart throb. I highly recommend the book.
Two down and one to go. I know I have said it so many times but honest!y Maureen is amazing. I love all of her work and this one was no different. I loved Riley and Noah's story. I can't wait to read the final part in this Affair series!
I have read several books by this author and she never fails to deliver a story filled with suspense that keeps the reader engaged to the very end. In addition to a very solid plot, she skillfully adds in just the right amount of hot, steamy, off the charts sexy escapades that are guaranteed to steam up your eyeballs and other areas too!!! I also love the way she connects characters from other stories (Paulo Sanchez), which for me is the catalyst to read her other books. The characters are believable, strong, smart and you get an extra serving of male finess to lick your lips on.

So if you are looking for a quick romance story with no plot and a very common storyline of conflict, sex and HEA ending, this is NOT the book for you. BUT if you want a longer read filled with page turning suspense laced with searing romance that is tastefully woven throughout the story, then BUY this book and then sample all the other equally enjoyable books by this author. You may want to check out the following stories which also take place in San Antonio and have connecting characters - Weapon of Seduction, Whisper My Name, Like No One Else. Oh and be sure to check out The Wolf Pack Series - where sexiness is taken to another level. Enjoy!!!
This book was just ok. Border line boring. I was bored the first half. I have read much better stories from Ms. Smith. I do not recommend this book. Investigating Trevor's death was ok but the story of his secret was BORING. Grandma and the wedding dress I had to skip most of that. Then I just couldn't take any more. I went to the last two pages. Enough said.
The chemistry between Noah and Riley was undeniable from beginning to end. Ms. Smith has a way with words that grabs your heart. When Noah saw Riley for the first time after three years, he was given a chance to give her his love, but was torn between loving her and not betraying his best friend. Riley feels the same way, but you can't deny love. And this book shows us that love will come to you even if you are trying to run form it. I looooove Noah Roarke. He was gentle, masculine, sexy, passionate, and OMG I want a man like that. Riley was another one of Ms. Smith's strong females. But she knew when to be strong and when to be vulnerable. The first love scene was written so beautifully and filled with passion that I had to stop reading and set it aside. They were met for each other. Ms. Smith's writing is like liquid poetry.
Loved the story line the plot and characters. I loved both Noah and Riley. I loved that both characters had dark skin and I loved that while they were both successful they weren't uber rich particularly the man. I love how Maureen Smith describes the love scenes. I love that she doesn't overkill it with metaphors and cheesy platitudes. I have read books by her where she's a bit raunchy and explicit and the scenes start to feel as if they belong in an erotica novel, however she's usually descriptive without being raunchy. Finally, I absolutely loved that this time it was the man who was carrying the torch of unrequited love. Really enjoyed that angle. Overall I enjoyed the book, but like her suspense novels better.
